Asphalt plant
Our production of asphalt complies with European Union standards.
Our production of asphalt complies with European Union standards.
The CTB asphalt plant produces asphalt that meets EU standards and quality requirements. The plant produces AC, SMA and PA asphalts, all of which are certified for quality.
In 2005, CTB expanded its operations by acquiring the Benninghoven TBA-240 asphalt plant in Liepāja, which is fully automated and produces asphalt of the highest quality with a capacity of up to 240 tonnes per hour. In 2013, the plant was upgraded with the installation of the Benninghoven RA-150 recycled asphalt system, which enables the use of recycled asphalt in the production process. Thus, we are not only able to obtain asphalt of the highest quality but can also promote the reuse of road construction by-products. The purchased technology helps to reduce both the cost of the asphalt and the consumption of non-renewable natural resources.
CTB attaches great importance to the reuse of products, which makes it possible to use already extracted natural resources much more efficiently, to create less waste and thus to run a business that tries to behave responsibly towards the environment to the extent possible. Often when carrying out construction works, old asphalt is disposed of; however, our Benninghoven RA-150 recycled asphalt addition system allows this asphalt to be reused without reducing the quality and sustainability of the service.
We are proud of every project we have completed; however, the most significant is the renovation of Liepāja Airport, where we produced and laid asphalt 2,002 m long and 40 m wide with 60 m wide turning areas. In total for the runways, we cold milled and laid two layers of asphalt over an area of more than 80,000 m2, as well as renewing all the horizontal markings of the airfield, totalling over 7,000 m2.
In addition, our team renovated approximately 4,000 m2 of taxiway, which included cold milling and the application of an asphalt top layer. In order for the airport to be able to serve C-class aircraft, various expansion works were also carried out, such as the widening of the runway to 18 m, the construction of an aircraft parking area and the renovation of the 15,000 m2 aircraft apron.
We are also proud to have been responsible for the renovation of several city streets and highways, including sections of various lengths of the A9, A10, A11, P108, P113 and P121 highways, as well as the construction of a pedestrian and cycle path alongside the A9 Riga–Liepāja highway. We are also particularly proud of the sports spaces we have constructed, including the basketball courts in Liepāja financed by Kristaps Porziņģis.
We have completed many other projects including asphalt parking areas for the hardware store Depo DIY in Klaipėda, Lithuania. It is noteworthy that this was one of the first construction projects carried out by the company outside of Latvia.
